One of the things that I love most about game streaming is finding out about games that you didn’t know even existed. For instance, did you know that The Ren & Stimpy Show had not one but four games on Super Nintendo? Neither did I!
The Ren & Stimpy Show: Buckeroo$
The first of these was The Ren & Stimpy Show: Buckeroo$. Released in April 1993 for NES and SNES, the side-scrolling platformer’s levels were based on episodes from the cartoon series. The playthrough was published on the
World of Longplays YouTube channel.
By the way, Buckeroo$ is a fairly rare game. The cartridge alone goes for over $90 on eBay. Meanwhile, the complete set with game, manual, box, and original poster goes for several hundred dollars.
The Ren & Stimpy Show: Veediots!
The second game released on SNES was The Ren & Stimpy Show: Veediots! THQ published both Buckeroo$ and Veediots in 1993, although the latter came out in the fall. It was also released on Game Boy. However, an NES version was not developed.
The Ren & Stimpy Show: Fire Dogs
If you didn’t get enough Ren & Stimpy in 1993, two more games came out in 1994. The first of these was called Fire Dogs. Funny enough, Argonaut Games – which a year prior had co-developed Star Fox – was the development studio behind THQ’s third entry on the Super Nintendo. Compared to the first two games, this one is fairly reasonable for collectors.
The Ren & Stimpy Show: Time Warp
The fourth and final Ren & Stimpy game released on SNES was Time Warp. In this game, Ren and Stimpy need to collect 47 million Gritty Kitty proofs of purchase to win a time machine from Muddy Mudskipper. Along with side-scrolling platforming, Time Warp has a Space Invaders-like minigame. It also has segments where you fly around in the time machine.
