Today the video game industry dresses up to celebrate the most important awards of the year.
A few weeks after The Esports Awards, today comes the most important night of the year for the gaming industry. Often referred to as the Oscars of video games, The Game Awards are the most important awards that the industry receives. This time it’s returning to an in-person format in Los Angeles that had been lost last year.
Announcements and more announcements
As usual, the master of ceremonies of the awards will be the presenter, journalist, and producer Geoff Keighley. But the most surprising of all is that two big Hollywood figures will also be part of the group of presenters of the event. Jim Carrey and Ben Schwartz will be part of The Game Awards to present the new Sonic movie, Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
This awards show has gained a lot of popularity not only in video games but also in pop culture, which has led big companies and video game developers to exclusively share big announcements during the awards. Geoff Keighley estimates that we will have the opportunity to see 40 to 50 games; 10 of these are world premieres. It is also expected that most of these announcements will be for next-generation consoles.
The most important awards in video games
Clearly, the most anticipated award is the game of the year. In this category, we will have six nominees that have created quite a stir in the community for being an unusual choice of nominees to what many gamers thought would be the chosen ones. Deathloop, It Takes Two, Metroid Dread, Psychonauts 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Resident Evil Village are all contenders for the biggest award of the year. In addition, we will have a list of different awards that extends up to 30 where we will have awards such as, Best Developer, Best Indie Game, and many more.
You can’t miss this amazing awards gala, the event will take place at 8pm EST – 5pm PST via The Game Awards Twitch and YouTube channels.
